Hello everyone! Miranda here. Welcome to my first ever travel blog! For this post I took a trip down to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
This post is going to be split into three sections; Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Magic Kingdom. At the time I went, Disney was having food and wine in Epcot, as well as all of the new Halloween treats at Magic Kingdom.
Now because this is 2020, I wanted to let you know that all safety precautions were put in place when I had gone. I have to say that I think Disney has done a fantastic job of keeping everyone in check. Masks must be worn properly, meaning over the nose at all times, if you need to pull it down to eat or drink you must be stationary. Everyone must be six feet apart at all times, including rides, and you must get a park reservation in order to enter the parks, limiting the number of people who are in the parks. If you have any more questions about the safety practices that Disney has put in place, you can email me and I will be glad to answer them.
Now back to the great eats. Keep in mind my goal is to always be very honest with you. So whatever I rate these foods, it’s my honest opinion.
With that being said let’s get started!
Hollywood Studios:
- Mickey Pretzel $7- This iconic Disney eat, is in my opinion ok. Unfortunately, at the time I had this pretzel mine was very stale. The cheese that it comes with had a jello like texture and honestly just grossed me out. I’m sure that it was just the one pretzel place that I tried out, because normally I hear that they are fairly good. If you are curios where I got my pretzel it is the citrus stand outside of the tower of terror and rock and rollercoaster. But, you can find these almost in every stand that you see around the parks. I rate this treat a 3/10.
- Wild Strawberry Lemonade $4.49 – For this refreshing drink we are going to have to head over to the baseline tap house outside Muppet Vision 3D. If you need a drink that is nonalcoholic but also makes for a very great drink. This is a great drink. It has a very natural strawberry flavor and is not sour. My only complaint is that it was filled with ice, so for the price your actually not getting a lot of the drink itself. I rate this 7/10.
- Black Cherry Soda $4.29- Staying at the Baseline Tap House we have the Black Cherry Soda. If you’ve ever tried the Clear American Black Cherry Flavored Sparkling Water at Walmart, this has the exact same flavor. Its quite refreshing and has a nice strong flavor. I liked it but it tastes exactly like the flavored water that I drink all the time. Just like the wild strawberry lemonade it also had a a lot of ice for the price. Over all I also rate this a 7/10.
- Chocolate Milkshake $7.00- Now its time to go down to the Sci fi Drive In Diner right next to the baseline tap house. This is one of my favorite restaurant in all of Disney. Not just because of the food but, because of the whole experience. You get to eat in a car while old sci fi movies play. Its an amazing experience! One of their best known items are their milkshakes. You can choose from Oreo, vanilla, or chocolate. I chose the chocolate and it is amazing for all of you chocolate lovers out there. It has a very rich chocolate flavor and is a fairly thick milkshake. It was so good that I ordered seconds. It’s also a fairly large milkshake. Overall I rate this a 8/10.
- Pan-Seared Shrimp Pasta $25.00- This was a pretty large, good dish. I really enjoyed it. It had a nice kick to it, and the shrimp was very large. It had a nice cream-cheese sauce, with zucchini, sliced red bell peppers, and kale. This is a pretty pricey dish, and for the price your paying you only get 3-4 shrimp. The majority of the dish was taken by kale. This was my only complaint and if you don’t mind kale, then this is defiantly a must try. I would rate this a 6/10.
Epcot/ Food and Wine
- Tarte aux Fraise- The first meal on journey is in France. Its a strawberry tart and can be found in the quick service restaurant in the back of the Paris pavilion, called Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie. This was a great treat if you’ve got a sweet tooth, but don’t want anything to sweet. I come to find most tarts to be bitter, but this one wasn’t at all. The strawberries went perfectly with the whipped cream, and the crust tied it all together perfectly. It was also the perfect size if you don’t want anything big. Overall I rate this an 8/10.
- Brie aux Pommes- Staying at the same quick service, I also got a brie (a type of cheese), apple, and cranberry sandwich on multi grain bread. I actually did not like this. The sandwich that I got, didn’t have any cranberry and the brie didn’t add any flavor to the sandwich. All in all the sandwich was mainly bread and I would suggest to spend your money on the tart. Overall I rate this a 2/10.
- Spicy Hummus Fries- Making our way over to Morocco, we have our first food and wine exclusive treat. These fries are topped with onions, garlic, and a spicy tomato concassee. This treat was a hit or miss, you either love it or
hate it. I liked, however a lot of my family didn’t. The texture reminded me a lot of a fried stick of quinoa. It fell apart nicely in my mouth. This dish is not for anyone who doesn’t like spicy things, because wow this has a good kick to it. Overall I rate this a 8/10. - Chicken Teriyaki Bun- After Morocco, I headed over to Japan. I was very happy with what I found. This is another Food and Wine exclusive, and if you ever get the chance to try this I highly suggest it. The bun was by far the best thing I had on my trip. It had a nice cloud like texture on the outside, and a filling made with chicken, vegetables, and a perfect teriyaki sauce. I honestly have no words for how good this was and you just have to try it yourself. Of course I rate this a 10/10.
- Paella- Now we’re gonna head on over to the Spain booth. There we can find shrimp paella. Paella is a spanish dish manly made of rice and seafood or chicken. This dish contains chorizo and shrimp. I really enjoyed this. The shrimp was seasoned perfectly. The dish was also a bit spicy. It also gave you a large enough plate and came with 2-3 shrimps. Overall I rate this a 9/10.
- Strawberry Smoothie- At this time of the day I was getting fairly stuffed, but I had to stop by the doughnut stand. This stand is located near Test track. While we were there we picked up the strawberry smoothie and honestly I was pretty disappointed. It was a fairly small drink and didn’t really taste like strawberry. It had the same consistency and taste as strawberry yogurt, and tasted fairly artificial to me. I’d honestly recommend skipping this item and spending your money elsewhere. I rate this a 2/10 for the cute straw.
- Sprinkle Doughnuts- These were honestly my most anticipated item. Doughnuts are some of my favorite desserts and when I found out that they were having a doughnut stand I knew I had to try. These were small round doughnuts with metallic sprinkles on top, and a purple glaze. These doughnuts were hit or miss. They honestly tasted exactly like a funnel cake. I don’t think the purple glaze added anything besides to look pretty. They
came out very hot which was a good thing, as it was raining at the time I got them. However, they were so hot that it was hard to eat. If you like funnel cakes these would be good for you. I rate this a 5/10. - Orange Cream Shake- On the way out I had to stop by the citrus blossom stand to pick up the souvenir bird cup. That bird cup is the cutest thing and it is now my baby. What I was pleasantly surprised for was the orange cream
shake that came with it. Since I was going for the bird, I didn’t care to much about the drink, but wow. I think its safe to say that this was my favorite drink in all of Disney. It had a nice citrus flavor, and was very refreshing on a hot day. I highly suggest picking up this little guy. Obviously I rate this a
10/10.
Magic Kingdom
- Constances For Better or For Worse Wedding Cake- This dish is a mini wedding cake topped with an ax, themed after the dead bride in the Haunted Mansion. The Haunted Mansion is my favorite ride and when I heard that they were going to be making a cake after my favorite character, I knew I had to try. This was lemon cake, with a raspberry curd around it, and a white frosting, topped with a chocolate ax. This was a very good dessert, and wasn’t heavy. It can be found in the fruit stand near the haunted mansion and the hall of presidents. I enjoyed it very much. The raspberry curd can be too much for some people, but for me I enjoyed it. I rate this a 9/10.
- Hades Nachos- These nachos can be found in Peckos Bill by Splash Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean. I didn’t really enjoyed these. They were a black bean chip topped with chicken strips and a chipotle sauce. It was pretty spicy, and I can’t even begin to explain the taste. It was just very odd. At your first bite its not that bad and as you go deeper it starts to get worse. I wouldn’t recommend this. I rate this a
2/10. - Poor Unfortunate Souls Float- This float can be found next to Winnie the Pooh. I have one word for this drink, NO. Do not try this. I couldn’t even finish it. It’s a blackberry ice cream in a cup of coca cola, topped with a crown. The crown wasn’t even edible and I almost broke my teeth trying to bite into it. The blackberry and Coke created a chapstick-like flavor. I’d rather have 3 of the Hades Nachos then one of these. I rate this a 0/10.
Well everyone, that concludes my first travel blog. I hope you all enjoyed it and let me know if you prefer the prices to be with the names or no price at all. Thank you so much for reading and I’ll see you all next time.
